ZILLOW vs NCRC Fireworks at Valuation 2006

Are free valuations a threat to the appraisal industry? As many of you know there is a very popular website called Zillow that give out free property valuations as an enticement to get real estate related companies to advertise on their site. Zillow was recently hit with an FTC complaint by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC,) which has just filed a consumer protection complaint to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleging that "Internet financial services and real estate provider Zillow.com is misleading consumers, real estate professionals and financial service providers in on-line home valuations."

Both Zillow and representatives from NCRC will be at Valuation 2006 in the session titled “A Vision for Valuation”. Be sure to attend this very tension filled session and see the drama unfold as the debate continues on FREE VS FEE based valuations continue.

Ultra Mobile PC

A new type of Tablet PC is now available. It’s called an Ultra Mobile PC or UMPC. It is an impressive little computer that can do everything you need to generate an appraisal and send it to your client without having to go back to the office. The tools found in ClickFORMS such as the Property Inspection forms, Auto Reponses, Drag and Drop capabilities; AreaSketch etc. make the UMPC the perfect computer for ClickFORMS users.

Apart from its sleek design, WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, portability, touch screen (the list goes on and on) where the UMPC shines is in its size, weight, and PRICE. There are several models available today including the Q1 from Samsung. And at a price point of $999 (available at www.bestbuy.com) it’s hard to pass up. Come see this UMPC at our booth during the Valuation 2006 show in Las Vegas (www.valuation2006.com).
