The New Forms: Are They Final?
A Request for Feedback

The new Fannie Mae forms are out and will, obviously, be required starting November 1 st. Will these be the absolute last of the “new” forms? Probably not. History has shown that the forms will get fine-tuned over future months – or even years. (After the last update in 1993, the forms were changed many times over a period of several years.)

Fannie Mae would like your input to ensure that the forms are working as best as possible; so they’d like your input. If you’d like to give your insight into how the new forms are working for you, Joan Trice can help you get heard.

In the October 20 th edition of AppraisalBuzz, Joan makes her request.
We thought we’d let you here it directly from her:

“Mark Simpson, Fannie Mae, very much wants your feedback on the new forms. Somebody out there must be using them? And no, he nor I want to hear that you have to buy new software, you don't like change, yada yada yada. The new forms are a reality. He wants to know what areas need further clarification. I am seeing a lot of advice being bantered about on the email forums and from what I understand a lot of that advice is wrong!

Send me an email, jtrice@appraisalbuzz.com with "New Forms" in the subject line and I will forward your comments to Mark. He is working with me on an interview for next week to clarify any issues you might have. And of course, he and Jacquie Doty of Freddie Mac are the keynote speakers at Valuation 2005 in Las Vegas . You can ask in person for clarification as there will be a Q & A session.”

FHA Announces Implementation Date for New Forms

Per HUD: “The use of the newly revised Fannie Mae appraisal reporting forms, which have been adopted by FHA via Mortgagee Letter 2005-34, is optional between November 1, 2005 and the mandatory start date of January 1, 2006. The new protocol must be followed when using the new form whether it is done at the lender/client's request or of the appraiser's choosing.”

We read this to mean that when you are doing an FHA appraisal for a HUD property, you must use the new Fannie Mae forms to do so; this will be effective starting January 1, 2006 . It is optional until then. Contact us for more information on this issue.

Tech Tip

This edition’s Tech Tip was sent to us in the form of a question from a ClickFORMS user, Robert Inda.
If you have a question, please send it to us at
support@bradfordsoftware.com.

Question: Could the programmers allow the user to control cell advancement when using the F2 - "Quick Responses". When I use the F2 key a list of responses shows up. If I select a response from the list by scrolling down and hitting the enter key, the response is placed in the cell and the cursor is advanced to the next cell. Can you add a feature to the cell to allow or not allow advancement of the cursor.

For example, on the comparables grid on the cell for "Verfication Source" I would like to have a quick response of "Recorder Doc #" and then I would like the cursor not to advance to the next cell so that I can type in the doc number. - Robert Inda

Answer: When you select a response, hold down the SHIFT key and the cursor will be placed at the end of the response allowing you to either enter another response or to type in the Doc #.
