MISMO*
– A New Property Standard is Created
As
most of you know, Bradford Technologies, Inc has led a concerted
effort in creating an open standard for appraisal reports. This
standard would ensure that everyone in the appraisal community
has fair and easy access to accurate appraisal information.
Out if this effort, a new standard for describing property was
also created. This new standard, called Property XML, has been
approved by the MISMO Compliance Committee and is awaiting final
approval by the overall MISMO group.
What
does this open standard mean for you? Easier access to property
information! It means that getting MLS data will be easier in
the future. We are already working with NAR on creating a translation
between their RETS standard and the MISMO Property standard.
So integrating data into ClickFORMS from any property vendor
in the country will be a one-click process (i.e., no more time-wasting
data re-entry). This is just the start, and we expect a lot
more good things to come out of this effort.
*MISMO
stands for Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization.
Online
Location Maps – Microsoft Vicinity Support Going Away
If
you are using ClickFORMS version 2.4.7 or earlier and you are
using on-line maps, you are using the OLD online map server.
This map service is going to be shut down very soon. So we encourage
you to update to the latest version of ClickFORMS which uses
the new Microsoft MapPoint service to create location maps.
Windows
Terminal Server – Networking ClickFORMS
There
are a lot of advantages to running ClickFORMS on a network,
especially one such as Microsoft Terminal Server. Probably the
biggest advantage is that your company’s products will have
one professional look and feel. Report templates look the same.
Your logo is clear, concise and in the right place. Responses
are consistent and represent your company in the best possible
light.
Administratively,
life can be much easier as well. All your files, forms and database
can be stored in one central location. Your customers can be
stored centrally, so that their information is consistent and
up to date. In fact, you can even put all of your users’ licenses
in one place. When you want consistency, this is a very good
way to go whether you are big or small.
Another,
especially good feature about Windows Terminal Server is that
you can access your system from outside the office. If your
server is connected to the Internet, you can run the application
from your home or wirelessly from the field. Imagine sending
a report to a customer when you are 100 miles from the office!
ClickFORMS
works great in this environment without any modifications. Why?
Because ClickFORMS is certified by Microsoft and has earned
the “Designed for Windows XP” certification. It's one of those
subtle benefits you get when you use ClickFORMS and when you
deal with a company that is the leader in producing hassle-free
appraisal software.
Besides
Terminal Services, there are a number of other products that
you can use to set up this type of environment in your office.
One is PC Anywhere; one is Citrix, the world leader in this
area; and another is GoGlobal.
Let us know if you would like to setup this environment in your
office. If there is enough interest, we can create a “How To”
document to help you get going on it. Contact your account manager
at sales@bradfordsoftware.com
or 800-622-8727 if you are interested.
